10 Special: 7/3/03 Norwood 4, Media 3 Norwood scored on an infield single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 6th inning to eke out a 4-3 win over the Media 10s all-stars in a well-played game. The game featured some good defense and even better pitching. Conner Gallen started for Media and pitched a scoreless first inning, striking out 2. Ian Campbell relieved in the second and also pitched the third and fourth allowing only one run in his three innings of work. Jimmy Reese pitched the 5th and 6th. With runners at the corners with none out in the 5th, Jimmy struck out the side, keeping the game tied. Media made a nice defensive play on a base hit to left field. Scott Patton (leftfielder) fielded the hit and quickly relayed to Ian Campbell (pitcher) who in turn threw to Justin Brown (catcher) to get an aggressive base runner in a rundown with Conner Gallen (third base) who made the tag for the third out in the 4th inning to keep the game tied.. Media (Ian Campbell (2) and Jack Prior) laid down several great bunts for base hits resulting in the umpire inquiring how much we practice bunting since we are so good at it. Other Media highlights included: Sean Hobson continued to make good contact at the plate, contributing 3 singles Conner Gallen made 2 nice plays at third and made a great attempt on a fly ball down the left field line. John Allen made another catch on a fly ball to the outfield look easy. Scott Patton, Thomas Weathers (1 RBI) and Justin Brown (2 RBIs) continued to make good contact with key hits. Next up is a game on Sunday at home against Lansdowne Alden at 2 pm. The team begins play in the Norwood tournament on Tuesday, July 8.
