Majors - 4/21/03: Peterson & Peterson 12, Campbell’s Boathouse 2 The way the game began it appeared that runs were going to be scarce and a few runs might be enough to win the game. The score was tied at two through four innings when Peterson got their hitting game going in the fifth inning and went on to score 10 runs in the inning to make the final score Peterson & Peterson 12 and Campbell’s Boathouse 2. Starting pitchers Patrick Smith for Campbell’s and Jamie Goldsmith for Peterson both pitched three strong innings of no hit baseball before handing the ball to relief pitchers in the 4th inning. Smith only allowed three base runners, all on base on balls, and struck out seven through three innings. Goldsmith only allowed four base runners, all on base on balls also, and struck out five through three innings. Campbell’s scored 2 runs in the second inning on three walks and aggressive base running. Peterson responded in the fourth inning getting 2 runs on three base hits, singles by Jamie Goldsmith and Ben Hartzell and an RBI double by Brad Wenzel. Peterson continued the hitting in the fifth inning getting 10 runs on six hits in the inning. Goldsmith and Wenzel each had two base hits in the inning, Goldsmith a triple and a single and Wenzel had two singles. Stephen Weathers and C. J. Gamber also each had a single in the inning. Ryan Luffey came on to pitch the 4th and 5th inning for Peterson and recorded the win. Luffey pitched two strong innings of baseball giving up only one hit, a single by Mike Caramanico in the 4th inning.
