Majors 4/25/03 Carman Insurance 11, Campbells Boathouse 4 Carman Corp's sharp bats once again proved the difference, as Carman won over Campbell's Boathouse, in a rainout makeup game. Alex Butt started for Campbell's, and looked sharp on the mound, giving up only 3 walks in his three innings. However, Carman has been swinging some mightly lumber of late, and an assortment of bunts, liners and bloopers led to a total of 5 first inning runs for them, as they batted around. Mike Still started at pitcher for visitor Carman, got the first batter on a K, and then survived two first inning walks, without a run scored. Carman got 3 more in the second, from the top five in the lineup, on a walk, a bloop single, a triple and a double, with only one out. Butt maintained his composure, though, and closed out the inning without allowing any more runs, as Carman stranded two. Still was sharper in the top of the second, working past an E-4 to get 3 K's in a row. Butt found his form in the 3rd, allowing no runs, as he once again worked the top of the Carman order, and Carman stranded 3. Still started the 3rd with a walk to Patrick Schramm, once again proving that "leadoff walks always score", as Campbell's put one on the board, after Rob Tull drew his second walk of the game, and Alex Butt singled to right for the RBI. Carman 8, Campbell's 1. Mike Caramanico relieved Butt to start the 4th, and held Carman at bay, as they stranded 2 more. Marc McGough relieved for Still, and gave up 3, as Rob Tull hit a sharp liner right up the middle with 2 strikes. Carman 8, Campbell 4. In the fifth, Carman once again broke through, this time from the middle of the batting order, as Matt Snow and Troy Clifton both hit the ball hard. McGough finally settled down in the 5th, facing the minimum. Final score, Carman 11 - Campbell's 4. 1 2 3 4 5 R H E Carman 5 3 0 0 3 11 14 1 Campbells 0 0 1 3 0 4 3 4
