Majors: May 05, 2003 Carman 9, Moppert 1 Moppert Bros achieved something no other MLL team has accomplished this season - holding the Carman Corp "Hit Machine" to less than 10 runs in a game. This was accomplished by the pitching duo of Dan Nieves and Phil Rabena, who each went 3 innings, with some strong middle infield support, very often by each other, while their counterpart was pitching. Moppert also recorded three hits, by Phil Rabena, Nick Hetland and Andrew Feuerstein, with Rabena also scoring after a walk in the 6th inning. Carman's pitchers were Mike Still, who faced the minimum in his two innings, with 4 K's and a nifty 6-touch_second-3 one-throw-double-play (turned by Kevin GIllen) to erase a lead-off walk to Rabena in the first (the age-old rule was finally looked square in the eye and stared down), and Colin Newby, who confounded Moppert's valiant batters with his offspeed array and soft glove work. 1 2 3 4 5 6 R H E Carman 4 0 0 4 0 1 9 13 1 Moppert 0 0 0 0 0 1 1 3 8
