Majors: 5/7/03 Campbells 6, Peterson 5 In a tightly played mid-season game between two teams tied for 3rd place, Campbells Boathouse prevailed in a 6-5 nail-biter over Peterson and Peterson. Starters Alex Butt (for Campbells) and C.J.Gamber (Peterson) both got through the 1st inning with the score tied 0-0. Peterson put up 4 runs in the 2nd on a Ben Hartzell double, a couple walks and a dropped fly ball that set up a key hit by Brad Wenzel. Campbell's got a run back in the second but could have had more while Peterson's CF Brian Mehalick threw two runners out at the plate as Butt walked, Mark Fanelli singled, Brendan McElhenney walked Patrick Schramm was HP'ed and Patrick Smith had the RBI single. In the 3rd, Butt held Peterson scoreless as he struck out the side sandwiched around singles by Hartzell and Ryan Luffey. Butt's pitching line - 3IP, 3ER, 8K's, 3BB's. In the bottom of the inning, Campbells took the lead with 4 runs on singles by Matt Giardinelli and Stephan Tull, an HP of Mike Caramanico and a bases loaded triple by "Soup" Butt. McElhenney scored Butt on a ground ball. In the 4th, with Campbells leading 5-4, both teams changed pitchers as Campbells brought on Patrick "Hooch" Smith and Peterson tied the game as speedy Jackson Buttery walked and circled the bases on a wild throw to center. In the bottom of the inning, Peterson brought on reliever Stephen Weathers. With two out, "Sarge" Quintans singled, got to second on a WP, and Mikey Caramanico drove in what would turn out to be the game winning RBI on a solid single to left.
