Majors: Friday, May 09, 2003 Carman 15, Campbells 2 Oftentimes, in baseball, it's that one "bad inning". If you could get that one back again, and play it over, the whole game might turn out differently. Such was the case as Carman squared off against Campbells. Carman sent 17 to the plate in the first, with 13 scoring. Gillen singled, then McGough doubled, to score Gillen. Still was HBP. Matt Snow hit to short, scoring McGough, but Snow was out. Clifton then doubled, for 2 RBIs, followed by a walk to Andrew Snow. Boyer K'd. Two down, only 3 runs scored so far. Then Kotkamp singled, scoring 2 more, Coleman walked, Gillen doubled, McGough doubled, Still walked, Matt Snow singled, Clifton reached by error, Andrew Snow doubled, Boyer reached by error, and Carman ended the top of the first with a 13-0 lead, 10 of then coming with 2 outs. Mike Still took to the mound in the bottom of the first, and got 2 quick outs, on a K and an unassisted-3. Then, possibly because he wasn't "warm" anymore from waiting so long to pitch, he uncharacteristically walked 5 batters in a row. Quintans, Caraminico, Butt, Rob Tull, and Myers all walked, forcing in 2. Still was rescued from the inning by an ill-fated attempt at stealing home, which accounted for the third out. Carman 13, Campbell 2. Mike Caramanico pitched the top of the second, and faced only 4 batters, as Carman could not score. Still regained his form in the bottom of the second, K-ing the 3 batters he faced. Mark Fanelli relieved to start the 3rd, and pitched well, allowing no runs. Score held at 13-2. Still pitched again in the bottom of the 3rd, and sandwiched Chris Quintan's "seeing eye blooper" between another 3 K's, for no runs. Carman got to Fanelli in the top of the 4th, primarily because of errors, to extend to 15-2. Campbells did get a bases loaded double-play to minimize the damage as "Soup" Butt backhanded a grounder at 3rd, tug the bag for the force and fired home to "Sarge" Quintans who applied the tag. Still walked Fanelli to start the bottom of the 4th, then retired the next 3 batters on K's. Final, Carman 15, Campbell 2. Kudos to Carman's Kevin Gillen, who was 5-5, with a double and 3 RBIs. 1 2 3 4 R H E Carman 13 0 0 2 15 11 0 Campbell 2 0 0 0 2 1 5 "Just take the ball and throw it where you want to. Throw strikes.
