It was a see saw battle with Baker leading after the first inning, 1 to 0. Peterson took the lead in the second by scoring 3 runs to make it 3 to 1. Baker regained the lead by scoring 1 run in the third and 2 runs in the top of the fourth to make it 4 to 3. Jeremiah was relieved by Anthony Ricco in the fourth. The starting pitcher for Peterson was Ryan Luffey. Ryan was relieved by Stephen Weathers in the third. Baker’s first inning run scored on a single by Nicholas Vendetta. Baker added a run in the third on a double by Anthony Ricco and added their final two runs in the fourth on a walk sandwiched between singles by Richard Burns and Jeremiah Green. Peterson’s three runs in the second were the result of a hit batter and a base on balls to open the inning, both driven in with a two out triple by William Horrocks followed by an RBI single by Brad Wenzel. Peterson’s four runs in fourth were keyed by base on balls, a bunt single by Horrocks, who ended up on third base and a two out single by Stephen Weathers driving in the final two runs of the inning. Ricco had a multiple hit game for Baker with a double and a single. Horrocks had a three hit game for Peterson with two singles and a triple. Matt Gorby also had a double for Peterson. Others items in the game to be noted were the toughness of pitcher Stephen Weathers and the game ending double play turned by Peterson on a ground ball to C. J. Gamber at short, turned by Brian Mehalick at second to William Horrocks at first. Weathers took a line drive to the wrist that left the impression of the baseball stitches on his wrist. At first it appeared he could not continue which would have meant suspension of the game as Peterson would have been left with only eight players. Stephen assured everyone he could continue, despite the bruise on his wrist, and he completed the game without allowing any runs to score following his injury. Stephen literally took one for the team.
