National: 5-02-03 Final score: Fabian-Babaer Yankees 8, GR Pontiac Marlins 6 After coming off of a brilliant win the night before over the undefeated Reds, the Marlins picked up where they left off and jumped to a 6-0 lead in the first inning against the Yankees. But the Yankees fought back on a hard hit double by Ian Campbell to grab 4 runs in the bottom of the first. Then the young men on the mounds settled into a pitched battle in the 2nd. Alex Donoghue, pitching his first game of the season, found his stride and pitched his way out of a bases loaded situation by striking out the side. Not to be out done, Marlins right-hander Brett Noble stood strong and returned the favor for his team by striking out the Yankees to send it into the 3rd inning with his team leading 6-4. Returning to the mound and gaining confidence with each pitch, Donoghue settled in to strike out the final 3 batters, again with a full house on the bases. The Yanks then rewarded their pitching aces' efforts by chalking up 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to give them an 8-6 lead. In the top of the 4th, once again with the bases loaded and 1 out, the defensive gem of the game was delivered by Sanjit Singh when he caught a hard hit fly to left field, then fired the ball to 2nd to force a double play. The offensive highlight of the game came from Elijah-Karim Deegan who blasted a triple for the Marlins.
