National: 5/3/03 Gardner Fox Reds 21, Fabian-Baber Yankees 12 The Gardner Fox Reds renew their winning ways by out pitching and slugging the Fabian-Baber Yankees. In a game that took nearly 3 hours to complete, the Reds started out amazingly efficient on the mound. Kyle Maylish started the game for the Reds and in his most complete and dominating performance to date, he compiled 8 strikeouts while only yielding 1 hit and no runs. The Yankees on the otherhand, struggled on the mound in the beginning of the game. In the bottom half of the first inning Tim Divis came up with bases loaded for the Reds. He continued his torrid hitting streak, of the last three games, by stroking a double into left-center field plating 2 Reds base runners. All in all, the Reds racked up 6 runs in the first and 10 runs after 2 innings. The Reds offensive onslaught continued in the third inning with Kyle Maylish hitting a solo homerun, Eric McGough picking up an RBI single, and Zack Kline smashing a line shot to left field picking up 2 of 3 RBIs on the day. Tim Divis besides having a hot hand at the plate also chipped in by pitching the fourth inning. Ian Campbell took the mound for the Yankees to finish the game. He pitched well in the fourth surrendering only 1 run. However, the Reds bats caught up to him in the 5th when Donovan Jackson came up with the bases loaded and crushed the ball to right field plating all 4 with this year's first grandslam. Phillip "Dusty" Kotcamp finished the game for the Reds on the mound pitching 2 strong innings. Other contributors to the victory were Greg Snow going 2-3 with 3 RBIs and Dougger Lisk with 3 RBIs. The Reds made several nice defensive outs during the game but none was more heads up than Greg Snow fielding a one-hopper in right field and gunning it to Tim Divis at first turning extra bases into an out. The Yankees offensive highlights from the game include Kyle Tommasino hitting a 2 RBI double and Ian Campbell smashing a homerun to right-center field.
