National: 6/2/03 Granite Run Pontiac 8, Media Police 0 Granite Run Pontiac got a great starting pitching performance from Darren Lucca. In three innings, Darren gave up no hits, no runs and struck out 6 batters. Brian Vendetta came in and shut down the Rangers with five strikeouts in two innings. The Marlins also got a stellar defensive play from John Owens who caught a deep fly ball in the first inning to steal a home run from Ian McLarney. The Rangers also had great starting pitching and the game was tied at 0 after 3 innings. The Marlins then broke it open with 6 runs in the top of the 4th inning and then tacked on 2 more runs in the 5th inning. The Marlins offense was led by Chris Barbee who went 2 for 2, Billy Ankrum who went 2 for 3 and John Owens who went 2 for 3. This was a well played game by both teams and both teams should be proud of the defense played.
