Baker pitchers Ryan Martin and Jake Enterlin combined to hold on to an early lead and deny a strong Carman comeback. Baker jumped out to a 3 - 0 lead in the top of the first on hits by Enterlin, Martin and Phil Antonello. Carman answered with a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI hit by Kyle Gillen who was three for three in the game. Baker scored two more in the second with the help of Enterlin's second hit of the game. The game then settled into a match-up of good pitching and defense by both teams with Carman pitcher Connor Gallen quieting the Baker bats. The middle innings featured a couple of the best gloves in the league in Carman's Scottie Kotcamp and Baker's Erich Schwabe making infield plays like heavyweights trading punches. The bottom of the fourth saw Carman erupt for four runs with the big hit being delivered by Jerry Boyer who launched a two run triple over the right fielder's head and then scored the tying run. With the score 5 -5 the lights on the score board were rapidly looking brighter as the sun quickly set and it looked like this game may have had to end in a tie. But in the top of the fifth Baker played small ball to plate the go ahead run. After a leadoff walk to Baker's speedy Sean Walsh, Ian Campbell laid down a picture perfect bunt down the third base line. On the play at first, Walsh alertly saw that third base wasn't covered and, without hesitation, zoomed around second. He was able to score when the throw to third got away. In the sixth, Kyle Gillen was able to quickly get through the Baker hitters and give his team a chance in the bottom of the sixth. But Jake Enterlin was able to close the door with a 1 - 2 - 3 inning to preserve the win for Baker.
