Baker Printing battled back from an early deficit and held on to win 8 to 5 over Hagan Funeral Home. Hagan scored four runs in the top of the first on hits by Kevin Melone and Matt Robinson. The damage could have been worse but with the bases loaded the runner at first wandered too far off the base and was picked off to end the inning. Baker pitcher, Ryan Martin then settled down and yielded only one more run the rest of the game. Baker did not take the lead until the fourth inning when they plated four runs with key hits by Dan Divis and Erich Schwabe. The defensive highlight for Baker was a strike out - pickoff double play to end the fifth inning. It was also the second pickoff of the day for Baker catcher Phil Antonello. Ryan Martin was all set to try to finish the game on the mound in the sixth inning when a mysterious Hagan fan sleuthed out the fact that Baker ran out of innings for 12 year old pitchers for the week. Baker was forced to put inexperienced 11 year old Kyle Wenner into this pressure cooker to try to preserve the win. Wenner responded by walking none, giving up no hits and striking out the side to earn the save, end the game and earn a game ball. The other game ball goes to the Hagan fan when we find him.
