WOW!! WHAT A GREAT LATE SEASON GAME. With both teams getting ready, the playoff race couldn't get any hotter with this great Classic Pitcher's game. Both teams were off from the start with their lead off men setting the table in the 1st inning. Carmen's Leadoff man - Jerry "Hammer" Boyer hit a 1 - 2 off speed pitch delivered by Patrick "Hooch" Smith in the first with a line drive over the right center field fence. Hooch then settled down (actually he got pretty mad) and retired the side with no further damage. Not to be out done - Campbell's leadoff Ryan Myers (as he has all season) set the table by getting a hard single and rounding to third on errors. He was removed for a substitute runner - Ryan (the other Ryan) Carr, as Ryan is nursing a stiff muscle. Ryan Carr scored on a fielder's choice (5 -3) by Stephan Tull. Connor Gallen did youmen's work for Carmen, striking out 3 but holding the Boatmen scoreless until the Bottom of the Sixth. Stephan Tull, leading off the inning - again figured into the mix, by legging out a hard hit grounder to deep short. Kyle Gillen made a great stop but fleet footed Stephan just beat the throw. Stephan stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball when Patrick Smith walked. Patrick stole second. Connor Gallen battled and managed 2 strike outs. Up comes Stephen McHugh - who was warming in the bullpen to pitch the top of the seventh. Stephen hit a high fly ball to deep right that the right field had trouble with and the error plated Stephan Tull. Campbell's wins 2 -1. Patrick Smith had another GREAT outing - going 6 innings, scattering 5 hits with 13 strike outs (74 pitches total in 6 innings) WHAT A GAME. Rumor around the snack bar has all teams scrambling to avoid a first round game with the Boat. 1 2 3 4 5 6 R H Carmens 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 5 Boathouse 1 0 0 0 0 1 2 7
