The Mariners jumped out to an early 2 nothing lead. Both teams were held scoreless in the second. At the top of the third the Nationals finally got on the board with a home run by Kyle. In the bottom of the third the Mariners scored three more runs to take a 5-1 lead into the forth inning. At the top of the forth the Mariners were held to one run, increasing their lead to 6-1. In the bottom of the forth the Nationals bats came alive and scored five runs to tie the game.
