Wilson Safe Rockies 10
After
a rainout on Saturday, the HAP A's and Wilson Safe Rockies played on a dry, but
chilly Sunday afternoon. In the top of the first inning, the A's came out
swinging. Three consecutive doubles by Sean Myers, Ian McKernan, and Daniel
Enterlin and a single by Ashton Raines gave the A's a 3-run advantage after a
half-inning of play. In the bottom of the first, the Rockies were held
scoreless despite a double by Brian Koskinen.
The A's added another run in the second and three more in the third to go up
7-0. But the game was far from over as the Rockies bats came to life in the
bottom of the third. The Rockies scored 5 runs on hits by James Hare, Ellis
Driscoll, Seth Luck, Chris Smith, Brian Koskinen, and Jack Daly.
In the top of the 4th, the A's stormed back with 6 runs of their own. Sam
Naismith and Ian McKernan both singled and scored in the inning. The Rockies
collected 2 runs in the 4th with Matt McNichol and James Hare scoring runs.
The 5th inning was characterized by strong pitching performances from both
teams. Rockies pitcher Colin McGuire shut down the A's giving up no runs while
striking out three. A's pitcher Ian McKernan also struck out the side. The
Rockies managed to score one run in the inning.
The A's scored one final run in the sixth inning. Rockies pitcher Jack Daly
struck out one batter and had two assists in the inning. In his first pitching
appearance, Greyson Nelson struck out the first batter he faced. The Rockies
scored two runs before Ashton Raines and Daniel Enterlin retired the two batters
they faced to end the game.
Offensively, the A's were led by Ian McKernan (4-5, 1 2B, 4 RBI, 2 R) and Daniel
Enterlin (3-3, 1 2B, RBI, 3 R). Brian Koskinen (3-3, 2 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R) and
James Hare (2-3, 2 RBI, 2 R) led the Rockies.
