Bill Battey's Yankees 6
In the
first meeting between the Bill Battey's Yankees and the HAP A's, the A's scored
three runs in the fifth inning to win a very close game.
The Yankees' JT Harrar led off the game with a single but was left stranded
after A's pitcher Daniel Enterlin struck out the side. The A's took the lead in
the bottom of the first scoring three runs on hits by Sean Myers, Daniel
Enterlin, and Calvin Samson. Yankees' pitcher JT Harrar struck out two batters
in the inning and made a nice play on a pop-up to stop the A's rally.
The A's Daniel Enterlin struck out the side again in the second but allowed one
run on a walk to Nick Ladd.
The Yankees scored 3 more runs in the top of the third to take a 4-3 lead.
James McConnon, Damon Branch, and James Morris all scored runs for the Yankees
in the inning. A's pitcher Calvin Samson struck out three more Yankees during
the inning. In the bottom of the 3rd, the A's countered with three runs of
their own to regain the lead 6-4. Daniel Enterlin and Ian McKernan both drove
in runs with extra base hits.
The Yankees fought back in the top of the fourth to score 2 runs to tie the game
at 6. JT Harrar singled and scored a run for the Yankees in the inning. The
game remained tied as the Yankees held the A's scoreless in the bottom of the
inning.
The A's Sean Myers came on to shut out the Yankees in the fifth allowing no runs
while striking out 3. The A's took the lead for good in the bottom of the 5th.
The A's scored three runs behind hits from Daniel Enterlin and Calvin Samson.
Sean Myers finished the game by striking out three Yankees in the final frame to
give the A's their sixth win of the season.
Daniel Enterlin had a spectacular game for the the A's both on the mound (2 IP,
1 R, 6K) and at the plate (3-3, 2 2B, 1 3B, 3 R, 4 RBI). Other key contributors
for the A's were Sean Myers (2 IP, 0 R, 6K) and Calvin Samson (2-2, 2 RBI). For
the Yankees, JT Harrar pitched two solid innings (2 IP, 3 K) and had two hits.
