 9-10 Year Old District 19 Tournament Game 3

The Media District 19 10 year-old tournament team affectionately known as the Young Guns, started out the 2005 campaign on the right foot with a 13-0 victory over Delaware Valley.  After getting off to a slow start with the bat in the first inning, Kevin McGarvey picked up the team with a strong first inning recording all three outs by Ks.  In the second inning, Media broke through for 4 runs, the first of which was knocked in by a shot to left field by Eric Poynton.  Eric's sac fly plated our first run.  Danny Furman (4-4 with 3 RBIs) hit a triple to score two more.  The defense for Media was strong throughout the game highlighted by a 6-3 put out by Cole Gamber and a tremendous play at third by Danny to eliminate the lead runner.  Other strong offensive performances on the day included Philip Kotcamp (3-3) and David Splain (2-2 with 2 RBIs).  One run was all that Kevin McGarvey needed as he pitched a complete game shut out, allowing only one hit and recording 6 Ks on the game
