Both teams came out swinging to start the scoring early. Moppert’s Ian McLarney
led off with a triple to get into scoring position and Jack Donahue drove him in
with a solid single. Baker answered in the bottom of the first with a lead off
triple from Ben Davis (2 for 3) and singles from Jim Allen (1 for 3) and Cole
Gamber (4 for 4) to get a 3 – 1 lead for Baker.
Moppert came out in the 2nd inning scoring 3 more runs with Kambic, McGovern and
McLarney crossing home plate. Baker continued to score runs in each inning. The
Baker fans got their money’s worth with a 4th inning hitting barrage. In one
inning the team blasted (2) singles, (3) doubles and (2) triples for 6
additional runs.
The game ended in the fifth with a fly ball caught by centerfielder Andrew
McElwain-Siems, who threw to first for an 8-3 double play.
