ML Game 18
Hagan’s Funeral Home 5
Moppert 3
They won’t be sending a videotape of this one to Cooperstown, but Hagan’s
prevailed over Moppert by a score of 5-3 to ring up their third victory in as
many tries this week. The 9:00 start did not appear to agree with either team in
a game that was dominated by good pitching on both sides. Hunter Tierney went
the distance for Hagan’s giving up only 4 hits while striking out 10. Brian
Vendetta started for Moppert and kept the usually reliable Hagan’s hitters off
balance with excellent command of his off-speed pitches. Vendetta gave up only 1
hit against 5 strikeouts in three strong innings.
Moppert put two runs on the board in the top of the first on just two hits
(Kevin Bosco and Chris Kambic). Hagan’s came back in the bottom of the inning,
scoring three runs without a hit. Moppert struck again in the top of the third
to knot the score at 3-3. Hagan’s responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring
one run on Kyle Tommasino’s RBI single. Hagan’s closed out the scoring in the
4th on an RBI double by Beau DiFiore.
Moppert’s Ian McLarney reached base safely three times, all on walks, and Chris
Kambic stroked two hits. For Hagan’s, DiFiore (double, 2BB, 2RBI) and Tyler
Hansen (2HBP, BB) both reached base safely in all three of their at-bats.
