ML Game 45
Hagan’s Funeral Home 6
Gardner Fox 4
Gardner-Fox and Hagan’s closed out the Major League’s regular season in yet
another taut battle between two evenly matched teams. Hagan’s swept the 3-game
season series by a combined total of just 4 runs.
GF struck first, scoring 2 in the top of the first on key hits by Jake Enterlin
(3 for 3, 2S, D) and Kevin McGarvey. Hagan’s evened the score in the bottom of
the inning on hits by Julian Heller and Beau DiFiore. GF struck for one more in
the top of the 2nd on a leadoff hit by Paul Soma and an RBI single by Enterlin.
Hagan’s took the lead for the first time in the bottom of the third on a 2-RBI
single by John Owens (1 for 1, 2BB).
With heavy storm clouds looming, GF knotted the score at 4 in the top of the 5th
on Jake Enterlin’s third hit of the night and an RBI double by Sean O’Kane. In
the bottom of the inning, Hagan’s manufactured two more runs on Kyle Maylish’s
leadoff single and lightning speed on the base paths. The game was called due to
darkness with two outs in the inning, just moments before torrential rains
struck the MLL complex.
Kevin McGarvey (4 IP, 3 H, 4 K, 0 ER) started the game and turned in a strong
performance on the mound for GF. Eric McGough (1 IP, 1 H, 2 K) also pitched well
in relief. Hunter Tierney (3 IP, 4 H, 5 K) started for Hagan’s with relief by
Brian Gross (2 IP, 3 H, 2 K). Hagan’s defense, featuring nifty infield play by
Andy Kaiden and Jack Prior, played error-free ball for the second time in the
last three games.
