ML Playoff Game 1

Hagan’s Funeral Home    9

Campbell's Boat House    3

Campbell’s and Hagan’s opened the major league playoffs in a hard-fought battle. Hagan’s prevailed by a score of 9-3.

Campbell’s brought seven batters to the plate in the first inning and appeared to be on the verge of a big opening inning before Hunter Tierney pitched out of a bases loaded jam, holding Campbell’s to a single run. Eric Poynton and Shane Williams provided the hits for Campbell’s. Hagan’s responded by bringing all nine batters to the plate and scoring 5 runs. The highlight was Julian Heller’s 3-run home run blast, his third of the year. That was all the scoring that Hagan’s would need as Hunter Tierney and John Owens combined to allow only two more runs the rest of the way. Meanwhile, Hagan’s offense tacked on one in the second, two in the third, and another in the fourth.

Campbell’s offense was led by Poynton (2 for 4) and Williams (2 for 3, BB). Hagan’s was led by Brian Gross (2 for 3, HBP), Andy Kaiden (1 for 2, 2B, 2BB), and Beau DiFiore (1 for 2, 2BB).
