Seven Innings
This game was full of action through the first four innings. WYC had a 3-2 lead
after one, but in the second HRE scored 3 runs to take a 5-3. Both teams traded
runs in the third and fourth innings leaving HRE with a 10-8 lead. After a
scoreless fifth inning WYC put two runs on the board to tie the game at 10, HRE
stranded runners on second and third in the bottom of the inning, to send the
game into extra innings.
In the top of the seventh WYC’s, Stephen Conroy lined the first pitch he saw
toward right field, but HRE’s second baseman James Morris made a leaping grab
for the first out of the inning. HRE pitcher James McConnon then struck out the
next two batters to end the inning. In the bottom of the inning James Morris
lined a double up the middle to start the inning. Austin Dinger came to the
plate and grounded the ball to second the fielder checked the runner and
recorded the out at first. At the throw to first base the runner on second broke
for third, the WYC fielders tried to nail the runner at third but the throw
sailed high and James Morris headed for home and slid under the tag at the plate
to seal the game for HRE, 11-10.
WYC offense was led by, Brian Snow going (4-4), in addition, Ryan Frawely was
(2-3) and Jason McLarney, Morgan McLean and Stephen Conroy were (2-4).
The HRE offense was led by Luke Ciminera (4-4), in addition, Chase Luffey, Brian
Koskinen and James Morris all (3-4).
