Hagan’s Bounces Back

Hagan’s Funeral Home bounced back from their dispiriting 10-2 loss to Carman Corp. just two days ago by cruising to a 10-0 victory over the same Carman team.  The win raised Hagan’s record to 4 wins against 2 losses.  On this night, Hagan’s put together the full package—pitching, hitting, and fielding—in what was by most accounts their strongest performance of the season.  John Owens went the distance on the mound for Hagan’s, throwing a complete-game shutout gem.  Owens spread just 3 hits over 5 innings.  He walked just 2 batters and struck out 7.  He was aided by an unusually strong Hagan’s defense that featured superb plays by Kyle Tommasino, Bryan Leonard, and Ethan Heller.  Hagan’s offense was hot early and often scoring runs in every inning except the 2nd.  Everyone contributed to the offensive outburst, but Leonard put the game out of reach when he powered a 2-RBI double to deep left-center field in the bottom of the 4th inning.

Carman got hits from Tim Aman, Kevin Mohollen, and Josh Bannister, but they were unable to mount a sustained attack on this night.  Bannister, Mohollen, and Alex McLaughlin handled the pitching duties for Carman.
