Hagan’s Funeral Home: 12
Baker Printing: 4

Hagan’s Notches First Victory of May and Shows the Bakers How to Cook

It was a while in coming, but Hagan’s Funeral Home returned to their winning ways on Saturday with a convincing, but hard-fought, 12-4 victory over Baker Printing. John Owens started the game and went 5 strong innings for Hagan’s. Owens showed great command of his pitches, throwing more than 75% of them for strikes. Ethan Heller closed the game in the 6th inning, getting 3 outs in just 7 pitches.

Pitching dominated the first two scoreless innings. Then Hagan’s struck first in the top of the 3rd, scoring two runs on a walk by Connor Martin, a single by Brian Gross, and RBI singles by Hunter Tierney, and Owens. The Hagan’s offense did not let up, scoring runs in each of the next four innings. Tierney led the way with 4 RBIs, including a 3-run blast over the left-centerfield fence. Billy “the Bomber” Ankrum also went yard with a solo shot over the right field fence in the 6th inning. Ankrum now stands just 72 homers behind Barry Bonds’ single season record. Connor Martin had a breakout day with a walk, single, and triple in 4 at-bats.

Baker’s offense was led by Cole Gamber’s two singles and a double by Nick Boleto. Joey Murray, Bobby Ieradi, and John Robinson also contributed singles. Robinson, Hugh Reynolds, and Boleto shared the pitching duties for Baker.
