The Cubs jumped out to a 5-0 lead after half an inning and led 7-2 after their second at bat. But the Marlins kept chipping away. For the Marlins, Sam Freedman went four for four with three doubles and pitched two strong innings. Nick Newman had three hits and pitched one inning. Michael Lansberry pitched the final three innings and scored two runs. David Bettenhausen returned from a broken wrist and registered two hits. For the Cubs, Eric Faillace hit a monster two-run double and pitched well.
