The Cubs and Rockies played another nail-biter on Saturday, with the Cubs manufacturing a run in the 6th to prevail 5 – 4. The Cubs jumped out to a 3 run lead in the first, with Angelo Lochetto doubling in 2 runs and Chris Cosenza, on loan from the Devil Rays, had an RBI single in his first National League AB. But Nick Fender settled in for the Rockies with 8 K’s and held the Cubs scoreless for the next two innings.
At the same time Mark Teamerson was pitching well for The Cubs. Over 3 innings Mark allowed only one base runner, a lead off single by Nick Fender, while striking out 6. The Rockies got on the board, scoring 2 in the 4th. After the Cubs came back with a run Nick Fender hit a two run, inside the park home run to tie the game at 4 apiece.
Will Lochetto pitched the 6th for Winners Circle, striking out the side with nine pitches. In the home half Mark Teamerson led off with a single, stole second and moved to third when Joey Cimino singled. With no one out, Will Lochetto hit into a 1-3 fielders choice, allowing the run to score. Thanks to Chris Cosenza from the Devil Rays (Cubs) and Tara Higgins from the Tigers (Rockies) for helping out in a pinch.
