ML Game 39
Moppert Brothers 5
Baker 3
Moppert and Baker squared off for the second time this year. Baker was victorious in the 1st encounter in early April. Moppert came in feeling a little snake bit having also lost all 3 games to Baker in 2007.
Bakers first at bat was eventless with Donovan Davis making all three outs defensively (a strike out, a ground out and a pop out). Moppert struck in the bottom of the first on a Timmy Quinn HR followed by a couple of hits Pete Mamola & Will Manganiello) leading to anohter run. Baker went ahead inthe 3rd inning on 3 runs resulting from hits by Mike Newman, Nate Engleka, Nolan Derienzi and Matt Divis. Moppert responded in their half of the 3rd with a run on 2 hits (Donovan Davis and Will Manganiello). It would stay that way until the bottom of the 5th inning when Moppert struck for 2 runs on hits by Pete Mamola and Will Manganiello.
Obviously a big offensive night by Will Manganiello and solid pitching by Donovan Davis were the keys to success for Moppert. Bakers' Danny Healey also pitched a nice game going all 5 innings.
