The Red Sox scored 5 runs in the first inning and then used pitching and defense to beat the Royals. Tyler Boyd and Patrick Stroup each had 2 hits and scored 2 runs to lead the Red Sox hitting. Boyd, Stroup and Jake Dougherty each pitched a scoreless inning for the Sox.

Justin Potts and Andrew Pak led the Royals offense and each pitched a scoreless inning. Tyler Kane also played a great game for the Royals with two hits and several nice defensive plays.
