April 26 & May 8, 2012
AL Game 20
VantagePoint 5 (completion of game that was tied on April 26)
Horizon 4
April 26th:
Yesterday’s game between Horizon and VantagePoint was exciting baseball. The two
teams played to a no decision 4-4 tie to be finished at a later date.
Horizon was led by the pitching of Zavier Alvarez-Burock who went five innings
with 5 strikeouts and one walk. Jon Lennon, Matt Koskinen and Zak Burgess stole
some long balls in the field to keep the game tight. Joey Skulski’s big
to-the-wall hit in the top of the sixth inning cleared the bases and tied the
game. Nick Chaves saved the tie by allowing only one hit in 1 and 1/3 innings of
work.
VantagePoint’s Leo Burman delivered nine strikeouts and five walks in five and
1/3 innings. Ian Tierney’s double in the second inning and aggressive running
got the team on the board twice in the game. Brian Gunn, Garrett Brunner, Leo
Burman and Malcolm Williams also delivered with the bat.
May 8th:
Ian
Tierney’s quick base running combined with Brian Gunn’s double brought in the
winning run to decide the previously tied game.
