Brendan Schramm ignited the top of Baker’s line up by going 4 for 4, with 3 home
runs, 4 runs scored and 7 RBI’s.
Schramm gave Baker a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning with a solo HR. Patriot
responded with 2 runs in the 2nd inning thanks to hits by Dan Dirita and Fred
Potts. Baker exploded in the bottom of the 2nd inning with a 2 run single by
Brendan Schramm followed by a 3 run laser home run bomb off the bat of Justin
Ross to left center that rolled up onto the T ball field but luckily didn’t
injure anyone. Patriot cut the lead to 8 to 6 by scoring 4 runs in the top of
the 3rd. Patriot took the lead with by tacking on 4 more runs in the top of the
4th to go up 10 to 8. Brendan Schramm slugged his 2nd homer of the game, a two
run shot to center to tie the game and Justin Ross had an RBI double that gave
Baker a 12 to 10 lead after 4 innings. Both teams went scoreless in the 5th but
Patriot came from behind in the 6th and scored 3 runs to take a 13-12 lead.
In the bottom of the 6th, Joe Hare worked a leadoff walk which brought the hot
hitting Schramm up to the plate with one out. Brendan drilled the 3rd pitch he
seen over the center field fence for his 3rd home run of the game and his 1st
walk-off home run as well.
Patriot was led in hitting by Matt Rebuck and James McGinnis with 3 hits each
while Fred Potts, Naz Lennon and Dan Dirita each had two. Dylan Bittle had a
single and worked 3 walks and scored 3 runs for Patriot.
In addition to Schramm’s dominant performance at the plate, Justin Ross went 3
for 3 with 4 RBI’s, Ryan Duplicki went 2 for 3, and Brian Virbitsky chipped in
with 2 hits.
Brian Virbitsky picked up the pitching decision by throwing a grand total of 1
pitch to record the final out in the top of the 6th inning.
