ML Game 61
Campbells Boathouse Restaurant 5
Patriot Construction 2
Game
Summary:
Devon Laut got the start for Campbell's and set the tone for the Home and Home
series with Patriot, pitching 3 innings of no-hit shutout ball as the Boathouse
Boy's beat Patriot and readied themselves for the play-offs. Campbell's got a
huge lift from Chris 'Sidd Finch' Dirienzi who made his Campbell's debut, coming
off of the DL and pacing his squad to the win. Dirienzi's first 2012 hit was a
monstrous 2 run triple that ignited the Campbell's attack. The only thing bigger
than his bat on this evening was his mitt, as he led the revived Campbell's 'D'
with 5 putouts from the hot corner at third. \
Max Daugherty came on in relief of Laut in the 4th and kept the Patriot bats off
balance with an array of breaking balls. Patriot made a late run at the
Boathouse Boys in the 6th, as Caleb Mahalik deposited the 1st pitch over the
Center field fence, nearly shattering the Porta-potty! Daugherty on a strict
pitch count, handed the ball to Brendan Ricciardi who eventually had a 2 out
bases loaded jamb to get out of. Up stepped the dangerous Naz Lennon, who worked
a 2-2 count and sent a potential game tying extra-base hit deep to the alley in
right center. Campbell's speedy center fielder Alex Jacobs raced over and made a
'snow-cone' catch to end the rally and secure Ricciardi's save of the 5-2
victory.
Patriot's Manager Del Bittle was exasperated after the game, stupefied by the
strong showing of Campbell's new 3rd baseman. "Every time we got runners on and
made a run at your lead, your 3rd baseman was there to bail you out of the
inning. He caught everything!"
Campbell's hopes that this win becomes a springboard for much playoff success!
