CL Playoff Game 1
Mariners (Cavanagh Family Funeral Homes) 13
Brewers (Omega Corporate Systems) 8
Coming into the game, the Brewers were the favorite playing good baseball all
year. The Mariners at times played well, but were still trying to find the glove
all season.
So the 2012 Continental Playoffs started off on fire. The Mariners batted 1st,
plating 5 runs on 7 hits. The 5th run came on a 1 out triple by Gery Tamburello.
The Brewers answered right back in the bottom of the 1st with 5 runs on 6 hits
(2 outs). After the opening inning, the next two innings were all about
fielding. No runs scored in the 2nd and 3rd innings.
In the top of the 4th, the Mariners took the lead 8-5 keyed by a 1 out double by
Noah Griffin and an RBI single by Emma Curran. The Mariners were able to keep
the Brewers off the board even though Quin Zilch and Philip Coulter started off
the inning with a double and a single. The Mariners added 2 more runs in the top
of the 5th with hits by Ethan Smith, Gery Tamburello (RBI), and a 2 out RBI
single by Emma Curran. The Brewers had two hits in the 5th but were kept
scoreless.
In the top of the 6th, the Mariners added 3 more runs to make the game 13-5. In
the bottom of the 6th, the Brewers had 6 hits and scored 3 runs. But it was not
enough to overcome the 8 run deficit.
It was a great effort and good game by both teams.
