ML Playoff Game 11
Baker Printing 3
Carman Insurance Group 2
Carman
and Baker squared off in the winner’s bracket final on Thursday evening. It
turned out to be a pitcher’s duel. Patrick O’Kane took the hill for Carman and
allowed 2 runs due to some fielding miscues in the 1st inning. In the top of the
2nd, Sam Sav drilled a solo HR to left field to cut the lead to 2-1. Baker
responded in the bottom of the 2nd scoring a run on an RBI single by Brendan
Schramm. The score remained 3-1 until the top of the 5th when Keith Stubblebine
drilled a double down the right field line and later scored on a single by Nate
Furman. Brendan Schramm came on in relief in the 6th to seal the victory for
Baker. Not before shortstop Giovanni Matarazzo made a fantastic game ending
catch of a foul ball on the left field line.
Pitching was the story of this game as O’Kane limited Baker to just 3 hits which
was its lowest total of the year. Ryan Duplicki had his most effective outing of
the year, holding Carman to 2 runs, walked 1 batter and struck out 10 batters.
