AL Game 41
Mainstay Investments 8
Quotations Restaurant 7
In a season of great games, Tuesday night's battle between Quotations and Mainstay ranked right at the top. Quotations scored 2 to start the game on a leadoff triple by Luke Cavanagh and Spencer Skowronek's 2 run single. Mainstay was able to respond in the bottom of the 2nd when Luke Narbus walked and stole 2nd, 3rd and home.
Quotations regained their 2 run lead in the 3rd when Matt Pennoni singled and stole 3 bases for the run. Mainstay tied the game in the bottom of the 3rd when Sean Bettenhausen walked and stole 3 bases and Jimmy Cage got a single and stole 3 bases.
Quotations took the lead again in the 5th when David Scanlon walked, Jaden Horsfield got a single and Spencer Nicholson walked to load the bases for Cavanagh who responded with a single to put Quotations up 5-3. Mainstay responded with 3 in the bottom of the frame when Tyler Allen and Bettenhausen both walked and advanced on a groundball by Cage to 1B. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Corey Anderson hit a high, deep fly that scored both runs and put Anderson on 3rd with the go ahead run. Anderson then scored on a stolen base to give Mainstay their first lead going into the 6th.
Sam Elfenbein laced a rope to CF for a single to start Quotations rally. He stole 2nd and 3rd and scored when Mainstay threw a runner out at 2nd trying to steal.
With the score now tied, Blake Martin walked and stole 3 bases to give
Quotations the lead. Mainstay needed a rally and got one started when RJ Host
got hit with a pitch. Zac Allen followed with a single to right to put runners
on 2nd and 3rd. Liam Peel walked to load the bases and after getting 1 out, "Big
Game" James Hilley strolled to the plate and smacked a single to tie the game.
After a great fielding play by Quotations to get an out without allowing a run,
David Cage worked a walk to end the game. Great pitching and defense by both
teams allowed the game to be played to completion.
