In the top of the 1st, the Padres did not reach base with the pitcher striking
out the side. In the bottom half of the inning, the Marlins threatened with two
singles. The pitcher settled down and retired the next three batters. Score tied
0-0 at the end of the 1st.
In the top of the 2nd, the Padres first batter struck out. After that, the
Padres seemed to settle down scoring 4 runs. Caden Paukstis started off the
hitting with a double. Colin Curran followed with an RBI single. Andrew
Kirkpatrick followed with an RBI triple. Noah Griffin doubled to score Andrew.
The Padres kept hitting the ball, but the Marlins ended the threat with some
great defense at 3rd. In the bottom half, the Marlins had one batter reach base,
but could not score a run. Score 4-0 at the end of two.
In the top of the 3rd, the Padres had one batter reach base, but could not
score. In the bottom half, the Marlins closed the gap by scoring two runs capped
by a 2 run double by Colin Eckels. Score 4-2 at the end of 3.
In the top of the 4th, the Padres came alive again scoring 3 more runs. Shane
Hall had a 2 RBI single to cap the scoring. The Marlins threatened again in the
bottom half with runners on first and second, but could not score. Score 7-2 at
the end of 4.
In the top of the 5th, the Padres added 5 more runs. Padres had RBI’s from
Gabriel Taimanglo, Justin Duvak, Caden Paukstis, Andrew Kirkpatrick, and Shane
Hall. The Marlins started off the bottom of the fifth with a single by Ben
Williams, a double by Matthew Gorman, and a 2 RBI sincle by Nicholas Rosen. The
game ended after 5 with the score of 12-4.
