CL Game 12
Orioles (Rose Tree Fire Company) 12
Diamondbacks (Cavanagh Funeral Home) 5
After a night of rain, the grounds crews
moved allot of earth to get the shortstop area dry and ready for play. The
game started with the Orioles up first. Batters 2-7 hit the ball hard. The
D’backs fielders were like a wall stopping everything on the ground and keeping
them I the infield.
The Orioles plated 3 runs, two of which scored on a Will’s triple and the BIG HIT OF THE GAME.
The D’backs countered with an offensive barrage of their own with Blayke and
Luke leading the hit parade and scoring. RBI’s by Gabe, Jack and Nicky T. tied
the score at 3-3.
In the third, Codie lead off with the third with a triple of his own and
Bennett’s bases clearing double netted the Orioles 4 in the third.
In the fourth inning, amazing shortstop play by Quin was on display. He fielded
a hard hit ball at short and threw a ball to the first baseman in the air.
Two batters later, Quin fielded his second ball of the inning, turned and fired
to Codie at second base for a 6-4 put out. It was the first time, I can recall
the shortstop and second baseman getting it right. It was not the last 6-4,
however, as the next batter hit it to Quin who flipped an under hand ball to
Codie for the second 6-4 put out of the inning. GREAT FIELDING BOYS!
In the sixth inning, Will made a great stop at pitcher and beat the runner to
first for a U1 putout.
The D’backs ended the day at the plate for
the Orioles when the 3rd baseman Luke made a force out play on a grounder and
then caught a pop fly. GREAT FIELDING LUKE! He got his team’s game ball.
The D’backs got hot plating two more runs
in the sixth to end the scoring.
The Orioles hot hitters of the day were Codie, Matt, Sebastian, Jenna, Quin and
Jake. Each went 3 for 3 to start the game.
The D-backs hot hitters were Blayke, Luke and Nicky T. who all reached first
base in every plate appearance.
