ML Game 19
Campbell's Boathouse Restaurant 1
Patriot Construction 0
ML #19
Campbell's - 1; Patriot - 0
Media, Pa - Campbell's Boathouse broke their season's longest losing streak with
a 1-0 victorious pitching duel over Patriot Construction. Patriot's starter
Danny DiRita held the dangerous Campbell's attack to just one run on 4 hits with
a masterful performance. He would however be outdone by the tandem of Bryan Paz
and Evan Fooks, who together struck out 11, gave up 2 hits and kept Patriot
scoreless, for Campbell's first shutout of the season.
Campbell's run which proved to be lethal, came in the top of the 3rd when Andrew
Sposato hit the fence on a double, scoring Fooks. Patriot nearly tied it in the
4th, when DiRita tried taking the game into his own hands, with a first pitch
fastball that he took to the warning track in center. Campbell's center fielder
Nick Corado was there to haul it in for the long out, as the gusting wind seemed
to keep the ball in the yard.
DiRita
continued to dial strikes, eventually handing off in the sixth to Patriot
reliever Andrew Pak. Pak would finish where DiRita left off, yielding just a hit
in his inning of work, and setting up Patriot's chance for the top of the order
to win it in the bottom of the frame.
Patriots' speedy center fielder Dylan Bittle would open the home sixth working a
walk and stealing 2nd and 3rd to set up Patriot's heart of the order. Ethan
Emery walked also, and the go-ahead run was aboard! A wild pitch went to the
backstop, as Bittle raced home, but Campbell's catcher Aiden Carroll fired a
dart to Fooks covering to record the big out at the plate. Emery would remain
stranded as Fooks dug in and retired two strait hitters to notch the save.
Campbell's upped their league leading record to 5-1 and sent second place
Patriot back to .500 with 3 wins and 3 losses.
