Baker
received strong pitching from southpaw Luke Lombardi to defeat Patriot 16-2 on
Saturday. After allowing 3 base runners with the first 4 hitters, Luke settled
in and retired 8 straight batters including 4 K's in 3 innings of work. Kevin
Smith came on in relief to retire the side 1,2,3 in the 4th to end the game.
Dylan Bittle and Dan Dirita both had RBI singles to lead Patriot.
Owen Evert led off the game with his 3rd home run of the season and went 4 for 4
in the leadoff spot and scored 3 runs. Brian Virbitsky had 3 hits including a
double off the fence and also scored 3 runs. Kevin Smith collected 3 hits and
drove in 3 runs. But Zak Summy did the most damage going 3 for 3 with 3 RBI's.
Zak hit his 5th home run of the season, a towering line drive that traveled 270
feet before rolling onto the Continental field.
