ML Game 37
Campbell's Boathouse Restaurant 5
Carman Insurance 3
Media,
Pa - Campbell's Boathouse won their 7th straight game with an extra inning
defeat of Carman Insurance.
Campbell's would strike early in the top of the opening inning as their starting
pitcher Evan Fooks (8k in 4 innings) tripled to lead off the contest. Fooks
would score on an RBI single by Andrew Sposato.
Carman came roaring back to take the lead in the 3rd, scoring 3 runs on 4
consecutive singles by Nate Furman, Danny McLaughlin, Bradley Dinger, and
starter Brendan Stocku (5 1/3 innings 8 k's).
Stocku's pitching and solid defense, kept Campbell's down until the top of the
6th, when they'd need to rally, down 3-1 with 3 outs to go.
Campbell's responded and rallied as needed, as Andrew Sposato led off the frame
with a ground rule double, to set the table for the Campbell attack. Up stepped
Bryan Paz, who would send his 3rd HR in as many games, deep over the left field
fence to knot the contest at 3.
Carman would threaten in the bottom of the 6th, as Furman stepped up with the
winning run on second. A line drive single to Centerfield seemed to be the end
of the contest as the winning run rounded 3rd. Campbell's 'Secretary of Defense'
Nick Corrado would make the scoop in CF and fire a strike to Catcher Aiden
Carroll, whose textbook swipe tag would keep the game tied. Reliever Bryan Paz
would then get out of the jamb with 2 straight K's.
The game moved to extra innings, as Fooks would single to drive in Carroll and
Jack Higgins, who each reached base safely in the top of the 7th. The 2 runs
held up as Sposato came into the pressure cooker, and retired 3 of 4 hitters
with a masterful save of the contest.
Carman will look ahead to Thursday night's rematch, as scheduled starter Nate
Furman will try to notch his 2nd win vs Campbell's this season. The Campbell's
kids will be ready, with their goal of sweeping the home and home series well
within their grasp.
