ML PO Game 1
Patriot Construction 8
Plush Mills 5
Media, PA – The fourth meeting of the season between Patriot Construction and
Plush Mills turned out to be a nail biter in the end. Plush Mills, having won
the first three games by a wide margin, fell to Patriot in the opening game of
the 2013 Media Little League playoffs by a score of 8-5. Danny DiRita pitched a
strong 4 innings striking out 4 and relinquishing only 6 hits all night. Andrew
Pak closed out the game allowing only a hit to Kenny Jensen and striking out 3.
Danny Crossan and Dylan Bittle led the offense for Patriot. Crossan had 2 hits,
scored a run, stole a base, and added 3 RBI. Bittle reached base all 4 times he
was up to bat. He collected 2 hits, including a double and scored 4 runs. AJ
Spallucci also added to the offense with 2 hits and a late sacrifice fly for the
game winning RBI.
Patriot also played some great defense. A nice catch by Kyle Broadhurst in left
field killed a bases loaded rally in the third inning but the defensive play of
the game went to Zavier Alvarez-Burock in the sixth. With two men on and two
outs Alvarez-Burock made a great diving catch down the right field line to
preserve the much needed win.
Ryan Tolentino led the way for Plush Mills blasting a centerfield home run in
the first inning. Kenny Jensen added two hits of his own while Evan Cummings,
Charlie Andress, Tommy Bradley, and Evan Perks each added a hit to the cause.
Patriot Construction will now face the #1 seeded Campbell's Boathouse Thursday
night while Plush Mills will face either Carman Insurance, Baker Printing, or
Hagan's Funeral Home on Saturday.
