On Monday, April 21, the 4-1 Marlins squared off against the 1-4 Dodgers.
The game was tied 9-9 entering the 6th inning. The Marlins scored 5 in the top
of the 6th and the Dodgers answered with 1 giving the Marlins the 14-10 victory.
Neither team scored in the first but the Marlins scored 5 in the top of the
second and the Dodgers answered with 2 in the bottom half. The Marlins then
added one more in the top of the third before the Dodgers put up a 5-spot in the
bottom of the third to take a 7-6 lead. Marlins answered with 4 more in the top
of the fourth and the Dodgers scored twice in the bottom of the 5th to set up
the tie-breaking 6th inning.
Jacey Fox paced the Marlins with four
singles while scoring four times. Shawn Welsh was 4-4 with four singles for the
Marlins. Matt Sheppard had four hits including a bases-clearing triple in the
6th inning. Nicholas Fox had a game-high five hits and scored twice. Gabe Broome
had four hits and two runs scored. Jack Gill had an RBI single in the second and
also came around to score that inning. Devin Kennedy had three hits.
Stephen Valtos led the Dodgers with four hit and scored each time he reached
base. AJ McQuade had four hits including a double. Owen McGroarty had five hits
and scored once. Avi Patel had five hits and a run scored. John Wallace had two
hits including an RBI in the 6th. Jake McQuade and Mike DiMonte each had a
single and a run scored.
