ML Game 1
Baker Printing 17
Campbells 2
Baker Printing got the season off to a fast start with and cruised to a 17-2 win over defending champion Campbell's Boathouse on Monday night.
Campbell's pitcher Sam
Holefelder kept the Baker squad off balance in the first inning with a steady
dose of curve balls and held Baker to 2 runs. In the bottom of the 1st, Aiden
Carroll and Holdfelder both drove in runs to tie the game at 2. Baker used
strong defense to shut down Campbell's turning a 1-3-2 double play
(Smith-Williams-Evert) to keep the game tied at 2. However, Baker exploded for 8
hits and 11 runs in the 2nd inning which propelled them to a 13-2 lead. Baker
extended their lead in the top of the 4th thanks to a 3 run home run blast to
deep left center field by Owen Evert. Owen finished with 2 home runs, a double,
a single and 7 RBI's and scored 4 runs. Leadoff hitter Brian Virbitsky scored 4
runs while collecting 3 hits at the plate. Jack Ryder collected 2 hits and
played solid at 2B in his ML debut.
Kevin Smith pitched 3 solid
innings allowing 2 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk and striking out 4 batters. Kevin
helped himself at the plate with 2 hits as well. Malcolm Williams made his ML
pitching debut closing the door on Campbell's in the 4 inning with 3 strikeouts.
Baker will now face a tough Carman team on Saturday.
