ML Game 4
Baker Printing 3
Carman Insurance 2
Saturday morning's game matched two of the leagues top pitchers against each other and it proved to be a classic pitchers duel between Nate Furman and Owen Evert. Furman and Evert combined to strike out a total of 19 batters, scattering 7 hits and walking only 2 batters. Carman struck early thanks to back to back hits by Nate Furman and Danny McLoughlin in the top of the 1st. Good base running and some shakey defense by Baker allowed 2 runs to score. Baker managed to get a run on the board in the 3rd inning thanks to a base hit by Brian Virbitsky to break up Furman's no hitter. Virbitsky later scored on a fielding error. The scored remained 2-1 in favor of Carman until the 6th inning when both starting pitchers reached their 85 pitch limit.
With one out in the bottom of the 6th, Kevin Smith roped a single to left center
to bring Owen Evert to the plate. Evert delivered a towering walk off home run
to give Baker a hard fought 3-2 victory over Carman.
