AL Game 14
Quinn Construction 5
TriBen Insurance 4
A pitcher’s duel.
What a closely contested
1-run match up. Two walks and a double started the game for TriBen. Then a
single by Matt Kane plated the third batters as TriBen jumped to a 3-0 lead. A
shortstop Nick C. to Justin M. at first was the first out. In the bottom of the
second a hit by pitch and a single lead to two Quinn Construction runs and a 3-2
score. The third inning found the bases loaded and the strong swinging Jake
Maillie at the plate. A one out bases loaded rocket was caught in left field and
then the QC runner at third was doubled up to end the threat. In the fourth QC’s
Derek, Quin and Max singled and tied up the game at 3-3. In the bottom of the
fifth, Sam Pietrzak has his first hit. TriBen’s Nick C. made a bang-bang play to
throw the speedy Sam P. out at second n a 1-4 put-out. Singles by Ethan and Jake
and then a walk by Derek lead to a single by Quin. Ethan scored and Jake got
thrown out at home for a 5-3 lead. In the top of the sixth, TriBen mounted a
comeback. Justin M. started with a single. Aiden advanced the runner on a
comebacker to the mound (1-3 put out). Then a walk put the go ahead run on base.
A grounder to short was fielded cleanly by Max, however, the runner was safe.
TriBen battled Jaden’s pitches and it took ten pitches to record the final two
strike outs to end the game.
