NL Game 14
Indians (New Spring Capital) 8
Cardinals (Concord Auto Body) 5
Media, PA – Despite an opening
night loss to the Athletics, it is fair to say that the Indians have been on a
roll of late.
On a wet Monday night in April the tribe improved
their record to 3-1 by beating the league leading Cardinals by a score of 8-5.
The Indians were short handed in this one needing to call up two Continental
League players to the show. They didn't disappoint. Jack Shafer had a hit in his
debut and scored a run while Tyler Cohen was patient at the plate, reached base
twice and also scored a much needed run. Will Cohen, Tyler's brother, proved to
be the difference in this one, however. Will pitched three strong innings
striking out four and notching the win for his second victory of the season. He
has yet to give up a run in three outings. Harrison Maull came in to pitch in
the sixth to record his second save of the year.
The Cardinals showed why they
were 3-0 coming into this game. They got some big hits from Blayke Reid and
Chris Dolan to keep the game close throughout. Sean Gorman also shined at the
plate getting on base twice and scoring a run and adding an RBI.
The rematch for these two team
is Saturday, May 9 at 9AM. Should be another good one.
