NL Game 16
Rockies (John Gill, Realtor) 7 (Tie)
A's (GreenDrop)
7
In a back-and-forth game that ended early due to
darkness, the A's and Rockies finished in a 7-7 stalemate. The A's jumped out to
a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as Brady Nangle and Bianca Penn each singled
and scored on a 2-RBI single by Shaun Fernandes. The Rockies answered in the
bottom half with two runs when Michael Phillips and Matt Sheppard both singled
and scored on a deep triple to left field off the bat of Dan Lash. The A's
scored twice in the second. Jacey Fox led off with a double and after stealing
third, scored on a Gabe Taimanglo single. Gabe then scored on an Angelo Coia RBI
single.
The Rockies got one back in the second when Jack Gill doubled to
lead off the inning, stole third, and scored on an Avi Patel single. Nico Taylor
led off the third with a single and came around to score on an Aidan Nangle
single. But the Rockies put three on the board in the bottom half of the third
to take a 6-5 lead when Sheppard, Lash, Joe Arizin, Jason DiRita, and Gill
connected for five straight hits. In the top of the 4th, Jack Gill took the
mound and walked Nicholas Fox to lead off the inning. But he recovered and
struck out the next three batters.
The Rockies added an insurance run in
the bottom of the fourth when Jake Spitz led the inning off with a single and
then scored after three walks. But it was not enough. John Coccodrilli (double)
and Nico Taylor (single) each came around to score in the top half of the 5th.
The pitching combo of Jacey Fox and Nico Taylor left Rockies stranded at second
and third and allowed no runs in the bottom half of the 5th as the game ended in
a draw.
