The Rays and the Rockies came out of the gate fast, each scoring 5 runs in the first. The second and third inning were dominated by the pitching with only one run being scored in the 2nd by the Rays. In the 4th inning the Rays scored 4 runs in the top of the inning followed by a two run bottom of the inning from the Rockies. Jonathan Hoole led the Rays at the plate going 3 for 3 with a double and James Mayo dominated on the mound pitching throwing 9 strikeouts in 3 innings. Matthew Sheppard led the Rockies going 2 for 2 with a triple and 4 RBI's. Jason DiRita struck out 6 in 2.5 innings.
