NL Game 39

Rockies (John Gill, Realtor)   7
Orioles
(Court Diner)   6

In a nip and tuck battle with some excellent pitching performances, the Rockies were able to outlast the Orioles Sunday night, 7-6. The O's were short-handed having to rely on contributions from two call-ups from CL. Despite that, they jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when CJ led off the game with a walk and came around to score after Zack singled and Sebastian Perez-Gasiba doubled. But in between the hits, Jack Gill recorded three strike-outs in the inning on the hill for the Rockies and they escaped with just one run allowed.

The Rockies answered in the bottom half with 4 runs topped off by an Anders Kristiansen bases-clearing double. Gill (walk), Matt Sheppard (single), Jason DiRita (walk) and Bennett Bornstein (walk) all scored in the inning. Avi Patel retired the next 6 batters in the second and third inning for the Rockies. The Rockies added two runs in the second when Kara McLaughlin (walk) scored on a Gill single and Avi Patel (walk) scored on a double off the bat of Dan Lash.

The O's bats came to life in the 4th when Josh Allen, Perez-Gasiba, Ben Rago, and Charlie Nasta connected for four straight hits. Trent Graci also singled in the inning and the O's put up 3 to cut the Rockies' lead to 6-4. The Rockies added a much-needed insurance run in the bottom half of the 4th when Kara McLaughlin led off with a walk, stole second and third, and scored on a Patel single. Michael Foster (single) and Josh Allen (single) scored twice more in the 5th to cut the Rockies' lead to 7-6. But Dan Lash came on in relief to get the last out of the 5th, and three outs in the 6th to keep the score right there.
