NL Playoff Game 12
– Championship Game 1
Indians (New Spring Capital)
13
Cardinals (Concord Auto Body) 2
Media, PA – The
last time the Indians won a championship was in 1948 and Harry Truman was in the
White House. The drought was about to end.
Harrison Maull got the start
on the mound for the Indians and he pitched the game of his life. Maull went 5
innings striking out three and allowing only two runs in a complete game gem.
After the first three innings, his pitch count was only at 24 and 59 total by
the game's end. He also added two hits, scored three runs and had an RBI. Jason
Coury and Ben Ettien had some big hits in the game each scoring three times.
Sarah Liebman added two hits in this championship game knocking in 4 runs for
her team. Her brother, Ben Liebman, played great at third base making a nice
play throwing out a runner at second base to end the inning. The throw went to
his sister, Sarah. Cooper Bittle was strong behind the plate and Will Cohen made
a key play in the second inning at shortstop throwing out a speedy Cardinal.
Mike Skerritt was also great behind the dish keeping Cardinal runners at bay.
Mike Piscopo reached base twice and scored once. Maeve Brophy walked once to add
to her league leading walk total of 22. Alex Turmel played great in the outfield
and Tristan Blair hit a double in the fifth inning to end the game and give the
Indians the coveted championship. The ghosts of 1948 were finally gone.
The Cardinals' Nick Rosen was strong at the plate with a double and a run
scored. Gavin Martin and Brian Schwartzman also added hits. Schwartzman scored
