Banker Preferred 8
S.A.M. Construction Co.

In the season opener for
both teams on Monday night, defense was strong early for both teams and they
were scoreless after one. But Coldwell blew the game open in the second. After a
run was walked in, Mike Phillips ripped a bases-loaded triple to right center
and then proceeded to steal home to make it 5-0 Coldwell. SAM answered back when
Whitehouse (single) and Giles (walk) scored on a Jack Schaffer 2RBI single.
Coldwell responded in the top of the third to score three more runs to make
it 8-2. Avi Patel was hit by a pitch and stole second, third, and home. Jason
DiRita (walk) and Jack Gill (walked, stole home) also scored in the third. SAM
answered back with a run in the bottom half when Michael Piscopo's lead-off
single turned into a run. Ben Kalinchak's single and a Chase McCauley FC brought
Piscopo around to score. Coldwell didn't score again but SAM continued to cut
into the lead with 2 more runs in both the fourth and fifth.
Whitehouse
(single) and Kauffman (walk) both stole second, third, and home in the 4th
frame. Lily Riordan (walk) and Piscopo (walk) both scored in the fifth when the
pitcher walked the bases loaded and then walked them in. The game ended after 5
due to darkness with Coldwell earning the tight victory. Avi Patel stood out on
the mound for Coldwell. He threw four strong innings recording 10 Ks and walking
only 2 batters.
Both teams will be back in action Saturday.
